Potting In Progress

Stop #2: Potting Machines.

Our fastest machine (Red) is used mostly in the winter when we set empty 3 gallons. It takes 25 people to make it run smoothly.

For most jobs we use a slower, more versatile machine (Blue), which can handle just about anything: short runs of 3's, upshifts of all sizes, and 200's for annuals.

We designed and built our machines ourselves. There is also a potting machine at our tree farm and one at our newest Pitchkettle Farm.

Our mix varies of course, but basically we use pine bark, sand, lime, Osmocote, and a micronutrient product made by Coors.
